Choosing the right agency to apply to and signing the contract is most important in a model's career.
There are 4 types of contract in Professional Modelling :

The detailed specifications of these contracts may vary depending on the agencies that create them so it's also important to choose the right agency to sign a contract with. Models are advised to read all terms & conditions mentioned under the contract laid by the agency before getting signed under it.
An exclusive agency contract generally extends to a duration of 1 year. It maintains high exclusivity of models to the agency and ensures to not extend the rights to any third party.
Such contracts generally value the models high and provide high pay jobs in exchange for one's restricted freedom as a model.
An Agency under Exclusive Contract helps a model in :

Mother agencies are relatively smaller establishments compared to exclusive agencies but have benefits unlike any other; they care for the model's career path and constantly guide them. Such agencies groom and manage a model as they manage their brand. A model gets care just like a child from their mother.
A Mother Agency modelling contract generally extends to a duration of 1-2 years or can be even more, during the course of which the agency has exclusive rights over the model but can extend model rights to national/international agencies for projects if they think the opportunity adds up to the model's reputation & career.

A one-time modelling contract is the most simple of all contracts. It is valid for a single project or a specified number of projects as agreed upon by the model and agency. The models signed under the contract are free to seek other opportunities with other agencies/clients.
